Grilling season is almost upon us. That means burgers are about to become a staple diet food for the summer, and whether you are going to a BBQ or enjoying one with your family, you can find this American classic just about anywhere.
Whether you are vegan or just trying to reduce your red meat consumption, we may have found your new holy grail. And lets be real, we have had a lot of veggie burgers that just aren’t the best tasting thing in the world.
The Beyond Meat Burger tastes so realistically similar to meat, that people are often unable to tell the difference between real and not real while blindfolded. These patties “bleed” like meat, and taste just as delicious as the real thing. The red juice that comes out isn’t blood, but instead the dried beets used to create the burger patties realistic coloring.
Not only do they taste good, they are better for you than the real meat version. They contain zero cholesterol, and more iron. They also have almost half the saturated fat found in animal beef burgers. Check out the table below for the stats found on the Beyond Meat website:
Another great part about these burgers is that they are gluten-free and contain no soy in them! Their ingredients are also made without GMO’s, and are antibiotic-free and hormone-free, unlike the beef counterpart.
The protein inside of the Beyond Meat Burger comes from peas, which give it the flavor and texture of a real burger. The beets make the pea protein appear red in color which oozes out as it cooks on the grill, mimicking that juicy burger look.
Don’t be fooled by the fact that peas are the main ingredient, they taste, smell, and look nothing like peas.
Below is a picture of the Beyond Meat Burger on the grill, it’s almost uncanny how much it looks like ground beef…

Once it has been cooked and dressed on a bun with fresh toppings, you can’t even tell it’s a veggie burger. Below is a picture of the beyond meat burger with chipotle mayo and vegan cheese (or real cheese if you want!).

Cook some up this weekend or make it for dinner, try it yourself or test your friends taste buds to see if they can tell the difference from the real thing. We know you’re curious, so cook some up and see what the hype is all about.
Let us know if you try them out, and tell us what you think!
